Rangers B Kick Off Preseason Against Edinburgh City

RANGERS B team kicked off their pre-season fixtures this afternoon with a match against Edinburgh City.

Despite a 1-0 defeat there were plenty of positives for the young Gers as they continue their build-up to the Lowland League campaign.

With 14 minutes on the clock Jake Hastie picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box to get a shot away at goal but it was deflected just wide of the target.

A few minutes later Edinburgh City threatened from a set piece as Danny Handling’s corner was headed just wide by Robbie McIntyre.

The League Two side took the lead on the 20th minute as Michael McFarlane broke in space down the right before picking out striker Ousman See with the forward tapping the ball beyond Aaron Cervantes.

Adam Devine had a shot for Rangers after good work down the left from Aaron Lyall but his effort was held by Ryan Goodfellow.

Rangers goalkeeper Aaron Cervantes was called into action just before the break as he held a header from Ousman See in the final stages of the first-half.

Gers made a host of changes throughout the match with every substitute getting a run out apart from goalkeeper Jack McConnell.

Into the second-half substitute Tony Weston won the ball back after putting the Edinburgh goalkeeper under pressure but there were no takers in the box for his shot across goal.

Gers thought they had a goal back as Alex Lowry crossed the ball into the box which the Edinburgh goalkeeper was unable to keep hold of. Charlie Lindsay was on hand to tap home from close range but the linesman had his flag up for offside.
