COLE MCKINNON believes Rangers stood up to the challenge of League Two Edinburgh City as the sides met in a friendly match this afternoon.
For some of young B-Team side it was their first experience of playing against a men's first-team and McKinnon praised his teammates for how they dealt with the challenge.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, he said: "A lot of the boys haven't really played against that level at first-team and today you could see they coped with it well. They were winning balls and going into 50/50's and I thought the boys were excellent.
"It is what we need, we are all pushing to try and get round that first-team side and these are the games we need to play against first-team's so that we are ready when we go round there."
Despite losing the game 1-0, there were plenty of positives for Rangers in their first pre-season match.
McKinnon continued: "I though it was good, even although we lost the game I think all round and the way we moved the ball was good.
"We have only been in for a week and I think we are starting to play a lot like the first-team and that is our aim.
"The boys have came back in fit and sharp and we have been training and trying to replicate what the first-team are doing as much as possible so it has been really good."
