Rangers Back Football v Homophobia Scotland’s Month of Action

RANGERS are delighted to add their backing to Football v Homophobia Scotland’s month of action, which runs through February.

The Ibrox Pride supporters’ group, whose members are present at both men’s and women’s first-team matches, showed their support ahead of last Saturday’s match against Livingston.

The Football v Homophobia programme works to remove the barriers to allow absolutely everyone to participate, enjoy and excel within Scottish football.

Their aims are in keeping with Rangers’ own Everyone Anyone campaign, which seeks to ensure everyone is welcome at our football club, regardless of their background.

A spokesperson for Ibrox Pride commented: “As the official LGBTQ+ supporters’ group for Rangers, Ibrox Pride have been delighted with the continued support from the club towards ensuring football is for everyone. We encourage all fans to become allies in the Football vs Homophobia campaign by challenging homophobic behaviour and making it clear that there is no place for it in football. It was great to be able to sit together as a group for the first time at the Livingston game and we look forward to doing so again at the women’s Old Firm match.”

Clara, co-chair of Ibrox Pride continued: "As a trans woman it can be intimidating going to football matches when reports of hate-crimes are increasing but I'm reassured being surrounded by the wonderful community we have been growing at Ibrox Pride and feel safe in the knowledge that Rangers are committed to their Everyone Anyone campaign."

Munro Stevenson, Campaign Lead for Football v Homophobia Scotland, added: "The Football v Homophobia campaign in Scotland exists to make a stand against LGBTIQ+ discrimination in Scottish football. It's vital that all levels of football engage with the commitment to fight against all LGBT-phobia. We were happy to see that Rangers have dedicated a women's and a men's game to the campaign during this year's month of action.  “We look forward to working with Ibrox Pride and Rangers FC to continue to stand against LGBT+ discrimination in Scottish football throughout the year."
