Rangers Commission Cup Winners Cup Replica

AHEAD of the 50th anniversary of Rangers’ victory in the Cup Winners' Cup, the club have commissioned a full-scale replica of the famous trophy.

The replica will take pride of place in the club’s new museum within Edmiston House, and will be displayed for the first-time at the ‘Barca Bears’ dinner tonight.

Before the match with Borussia Dortmund last night, Honorary President John Greig reacquainted himself with the famous trophy he lifted in Barcelona as captain back in 1972.

The Rangers museum will be split into a series of different themes, each with cabinets and cases packed with artefacts from our history and each with interpretation - but the entire project is so much more than just that.

It truly will be a state of the art addition not only to Rangers, but to Glasgow – putting the club in context within Govan, the wider city, Scotland and the world, and demonstrate how the growth of the club has gone hand in hand with the growth of the city.

There will be many digital engagement and video screens for a range of different audiences from the most ardent Rangers fan to football fans in general and to tourists from across the globe. It will also cater to the local community for education purposes and community engagement.

The whole museum project is designed to properly preserve, catalogue and enrich the proud history of Rangers Football Club, with that work already having been underway for almost three years.
