RANGERS supporters from around the world gathered in Kissimmee, Florida for the North American Rangers Supporters Association (NARSA) Convention to celebrate their love of the club.
The event was hosted by the Orlando RSC and held at the Omni Resort at Championsgate as the association, who were formed in 1992, welcomed former Rangers chairman and current board member, Fraser Thornton plus nine-in-a-row legends Mark Hateley and John ‘Bomber’ Brown.
Supporters gathered for the five-day event to catch up with old friends and making new ones, as they enjoyed a variety of events including the Davie Cooper Memorial golf tournament, the Absent Friends football match, and local excursions.
Entertainment throughout was provided by music stars Callum Beattie and Keir Mitchell while several question-and-answer sessions were hosted by event master of ceremonies Heart and Hand's David Edgar.
Guests also enjoyed a speech from, Fraser Thornton, who provided an overview on recent club events, including the ownership takeover and Russell Martin’s appointment as Head Coach during the Walter Smith Memorial Grand Banquet.
The event wrapped up with an afternoon at Orlando RSC's host club, Murphy's on International Drive, where guests were entertained by a Heart & Hand live show, vintage Rangers games on screen, and even a miniature alligator made an appearance for photo opportunities!
Former chairman Fraser Thornton said: “I was delighted to be asked to attend the convention and get the opportunity to meet so many of our supporters across the Atlantic.
“I know from personal experience the huge sacrifices many of our international based supporters make to watch our club and it is not something we take for granted.
“They may be thousands of miles away but their passion for Rangers shines through and it was a thoroughly enjoyable few days discussing the club we all know and love and sharing stories and memories amongst friends.”
Club legend, Mark Hateley added: “Rangers conventions are always special occasions and something that everyone enjoys.
“Myself and Bomber were able to take a trip down memory lane and talk about some of the glory days we had together and share stories of some of the characters we worked and played alongside.
“We have been big supporters of NARSA since back in the 1990's when we were playing for the team under Walter Smith and we will continue to support them in the years ahead. Rangers is about supporting one another and that's what helps make this club so unique.
“Our supporters follow near and far to back the team and hopefully this season Russell Martin and the squad give them plenty to cheer about.”
Former NARSA President, Gary Gillan, said: "This convention was particularly poignant for NARSA as it gave us an opportunity to work directly with Rangers and their destination partner, Experience Kissimmee throughout the planning and execution phases. The opportunity to create stronger strategic ties with the club has been a longer-term ambition of mine, so to fulfil this while hosting a successful event was incredible.
"As always, club representation and legends being in attendance is fantastic and they did not disappoint. Today, Rangers fans have an abundance of choice in terms of events to attend, and to have so many take the time to celebrate with us is appreciated beyond words and we can't wait to see you all again soon."
