Having overcome Middlesbrough on Sunday, the Gers have jetted off to Northern Italy and will face further tests against both Milan clubs across the next three days.
Speaking to RangersTV on the level of opposition the team will face and how the team will prepare for the outings, Lorena Sumser commented: “First of all like seeing those names Inter Milan and AC Milan they are great names and they are kind of in a position with Rangers striving to be in as well.
“We want to be able to compete on an international level, we want to compete and be able to compete against bigger teams.
“They give us a kind of perspective of where we want to be what is the status in Europe.
“Both these teams are top five in Italy as well, in a highly competitive roster with lots of experience, lots of international players.
“I think that also gives us a bit of insight of where we could be but also where we are at right now. The players that we have right now we are able to compete to a certain extent.
“That is still in the stars to think how far but it will be a great challenge and they will be doing great against both teams.
“Playing against teams that are ranked a bit higher than we are is always a great challenge, that is bringing us to the next level that we want to be in and also shows us what we need to work on.
“I am happy to have these opponents but these three games in about a week is also putting a lot of stress on the players as well on their bodies.
“Recovery is key, basically here everything we are going to do apart from playing is just recovering and that means again, pool and they have to focus on themselves as well.
“I mean it is Italy so you have a really good foundation of food, coming out here being in that environment, being in a bit of warmth and sun is always helping the match recovery as well. I am excited for the week to come.
“Right now in this week I am focusing more on the recovery as well, with the two games especially coming out of Middlesbrough.
“Our main focus is just to offer them to recover as much as possible during the few days that we have.
“Pool and mobility work and we have our two great physios here who assist that part as well like they have done phenomenally in the past and are positive as a performance team with the four of us we will make that work.
The Lead Women’s and Girls’ Performance Coach has given an insight into her background at various sides having linked up with the Light Blues backroom staff in January this year.
She continued: “I spent a year in France working with Olympique Lyonnais which was a massive learning opportunity for me working with one of the best clubs in the world.
“Then a few months with the German National team with the international teams this was also phenomenal.
“I was able to travel to the Under-20's World Cup with them which was a once in a lifetime experience.
“To be able to represent your country even though it was just a coaching perspective.
“Before that just a lot of academy work just back in my home town of Munich but every club and every team that I supported was just such a huge learning opportunity.
“Now coming to Rangers I think every one of those steps will help me massively bring the team forward.
“Help them make the best out of their abilities right now and help them make that next step.
“I happy to be here the last few months have been so nice for me as well.
“Everyone in the environment in Scotland is just so nice.
“Only kindness with the club and with the team is just phenomenal. I can't find words for how good of people they are.
She spoke of the importance of injured players still travelling and being part of the group on week’s away, as they target a return to the pitch as quickly as possible.
Sumser added: “I think that first of all bringing injured players to a training camp is always so beneficial as well.
“First of all for them so they feel like they are still part of a team because when you are out for quite a well like some of them it is hard to feel that connection with the team that you usually have when you are actively playing with them.
“It is great to bring them and they are a great characters so they bring a lot of good spirit as well and they are keen to work during that week to return to competition as soon as possible and the environment as well.
“I am working close together with Stuart and Christie so we can actually make that successful but they have been doing phenomenal work as well the two of them with other injured ones so I see their future only looking bright for all of our rehabbers that they are returning some of them sooner, some of them slightly delayed.”
