Rangers Girls' Academy Draws To A Close

RANGERS Girls’ Academy season drew to a close last week, with all three squads having worked incredibly hard in a new and challenging format delivered by the Scottish FA this season.

Congratulations go to the Under-18s, who clinched the NextGen Category One League title on the final day of the season.

Heading into the final weekend of fixtures, our Under-18s knew they needed a substantial win to knock league leaders Hearts off the top spot in the table, with the Edinburgh side having already played their final game and sitting three points ahead of Rangers, which they were able to deliver.

In the meantime, our Under-16s have enjoyed a successful season this year, narrowly missing out on top spot in the league after winning the Scottish Cup earlier in the year.

Lastly, we would also like to pass on our congratulations to the Under-14s. Our youngest group rose to face weekly challenges in various format of the new Under-14 NextGen platform and should take great pride in their efforts this season.

Girls Academy Manager, Todd Lumsden, commented: “While we are delighted that successful results have been achieved by the Under-18s and Under-16s in the Scottish Cup, the positive development of the players has been a hugely pleasing factor for the club.

“As the Elite age groups move to new bandings next season, we thank them for their commitment and dedication this year, wish all departing players every success for the future, and look forward to welcoming those remaining back to the club after a well-earned rest.”
