CAFE (Centre for Access to Football in Europe) week is held annually to shine a light on the work taking place to ensure disabled people have equal opportunities to enjoy live sport.
Rangers are committed to ensuring disabled fans and visitors are made to feel valued and welcome at Ibrox Stadium.
From audio-descriptive commentary to Broxi’s Den and the use of the revolutionary Orcam device to enhance stadium tours the club strives to make the experience a positive one for all.
Supporter Liaison Officer, Greg Marshall said: “Rangers Football Club will always strive to ensure that all of our supporters are made to feel valued and welcomed both within the stadium and beyond.
“This season more than ever it’s been so important to ensure that supporters feel connected with the club and our amazing triumph of winning a world record 55th title.
“Through our ground-breaking Everyone Anyone campaign we have and continue to unite supporters from all walks of life and promote our clear message of a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of discrimination.”
One of the matchday facilities is Broxi’s Den, which celebrates its fourth anniversary next month. The space provides a safe environment for children with sensory difficulties to enjoy a matchday at Ibrox.
Stewards Michael Malone and Angie McQueen are proud to play their part in supporting the families in Broxi’s Den and can’t wait until fans can return to the stadium.
Angie said: “It is a great facility, as it is what it says – a safe, quiet space. The young people are welcomed into the den and given their own key for a locker to keep their belongings in.
“Within Broxi’s Den there are many resources to meet the needs of as many children and young people as possible.
“We provide ear defenders for those triggered by loud noises which are especially needed when Rangers score – these allow the children to cope with the noise level and enjoy their experience at the Den.
“We are well supported and valued by the club and I feel it is always a welcoming environment and is nurturing and fun for children and adults alike. I am proud to be a part of this service.”
Michael added: “Broxi’s Den helps generate a special atmosphere on a matchday and it is great to have the interaction with the families.
“There was a lot of thought put into setting it up and continues to develop with suggestions from the user group and staff being taken on.”
