Rangers Under-17s Are NextGen Performance League Winners

RANGERS Girls Under-17’s side were crowned winners of the NextGen Performance League Category 1 after an emphatic 8-0 win over Hamilton at the weekend.

Presented with the trophy by the SFA at the Ibrox complex after the success the young Gers were recognised for the efforts in an impressive triumph which further highlights the strength of the club’s academy system.

After losing the opening league fixture of the season 5-1 away to Hearts in the capital, the team responded well with two Old Firm victories including a 3-1 away win and 3-0 home success.

Claiming the trophy with the result at the weekend which stretched their lead to five points on second place with just one fixture for the runners-up remaining.

Women’s and Girls’ Managing Director, Donald Gillies, said: “The Scottish FA NextGen program has worked incredibly hard to be an innovative and positive development experience for Scotland’s talented youth players.

“The competition is tough, with lots of clubs working incredibly hard for the betterment of their players.

“Todd Lumsden, the coaches, and the club are delighted that the u17s have come out on top in this part of the year, especially with several players progressing to senior football at various points in the season.

“We hope they can continue their learning and positive form through the rest of the campaign.”
