RANGERS have had a number of players away on international over the past 10 days as FIFA World Cup qualifiers continued to take place.
Here’s a look at who was involved and how they fared:
Nicola Docherty, Leah Eddie and Laura Berry – Scotland
Scotland 6-0 Israel – FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifier
Israel 1-5 Scotland – FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifier
The club were represented in the Scotland squad as they rounded off a fantastic international window to win their respective qualifying group.
Melissa Andreatta’s team topped the standings on goal difference ahead of Belgium heading into the final group games, as they pipped the nation to the number one place by a singular goal with a further 11 strikes registered across the two outings played in Budapest, Hungary.
Gers captain Nicola Docherty started and featured for the entirety of the victories, whilst defender Leah Eddie was involved in the squad and there was a special moment for striker Laura Berry, who marked an impressive campaign with the Light Blues with a first ever A squad call-up at the beginning of the month.
Securing top spot means the Scots will have an easier play-off path come the next window later this year, as they attempt to take a step closer to booking their place in next summer’s finals to be played in Brazil.
Calliste Brookshire – Greece
Georgia 2-3 Greece – FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifier
Cal was the other Gers player in action over the post-season international window as her nation also topped their respective qualifying group.
The winger had a huge part to play as she scored the crucial third goal in a 3-2 away win over Georgia having played just the one game on June 9.
Greece were in a three-team group alongside yesterday’s opponents and the Faroe Islands, as they finished in first place with a 100 per cent win rate, also making their play-off path easier in their hopes of reaching the major tournament.
Brookshire had a positive impact in the second half of the season with the Light Blues, joining as a free agent in January and impressing at both club and country level as she looks to hit the ground running in her first full campaign in Glasgow come the start of 26/27.
