Rangers Women's International Review

RANGERS had a number of players away on international duty as the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 qualifiers continued. Here’s a look at how they got on.

SCOTLAND

Pedro Martinez Losa’s squad took on Spain at home as they continued their World Cup qualifying campaign this week.

Nicola Docherty and Sam Kerr were named in the starting XI with Jane Ross making an appearance in the 86th minute of the match.

Jenna Fife and Lizzie Arnot were featured on the bench for the squad at Hampden Park.

It was a challenging match for the Scots with the score ending 2-0 to Jorge Vilda’s side, but Scotland were able to maintain second position in Group B with 10 points.

NORTHERN IRELAND

Demi was named in the starting line-up as the squad kicked off their international week against Austria at the Stadion Wiener Neustadt, with Megan being substituted on in the second half.

It was a challenging match for the Northern Ireland squad after going three goals down in the game, but the team were able to slightly close the deficit after scoring in the final minutes.

The team quickly turned their attention as they faced England Lionesses only a few days later at a sold-out Windsor Park on Tuesday evening.

Demi was again named in the starting XI with Megan featuring on the bench for the team as they dropped points after a 5-0 defeat to put Kenny Shiels’ squad third position in Group D.

JAMAICA

Chantelle played the full 90 minutes in Vinmore Blaine’s starting XI as they took on Cayman Islands in their first game of the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifier at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex.

Kayla came on in the 68th minute as a substitute and netted the final goal of the game in the squad’s dominant 9-0 win.

The squad carried their momentum into Wednesday as they welcomed Dominican Republic to Sabina Park for their next campaign fixture.

Chantelle was again named in the starting line-up and played 77 minutes of the match before being subbed off, with Kayla coming off the bench. It was another positive win for the squad after defeating Beni Rubido’s side 5-1 at home.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Ciara featured on the bench for Vera Pauw’s side as they travelled to Gamla Ullevi to take on Sweden in the FIFA World Cup qualifier.

The squad managed to take away a point after a 1-1 draw which secured them third position in Group A.
