Trailing 1-0 to SC Braga, there is work to do for Gers if they are to take that next step to the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League, but with a home support renowned the world over on nights such as this, he hopes they can be the difference.
Speaking at this morning’s press conference, the Dutchman explained: "Our fans are always important and they will be there with us starting with the warm-up, and they will be with us and pushing us the whole game to get a good result.
"The atmosphere we have at Ibrox is fantastic, especially in Europe, and they will be there and will be our twelfth man."
The boss also took time to explain what he needs from his side in order to progress, continuing: "We know what the task is and which areas we can improve and for us, it is about making sure we can play the way we can at our top, as you need that at this stage in Europe.
"That is all we have to do - take it game by game and I think tomorrow is a big night for all of us and we should enjoy it and embrace the challenge we are going to face and do everything possible to be in the semi-finals.
"I am always confident and I believe in my team as I know what they are capable of, and we have shown that against big teams in Europe this season.
"So I know the team is capable of doing that - I think we can have a better performance than last week and we need that to go through.
"Especially in Europe, you have to be there in every tie, and especially tomorrow, we need a top performance as a team bus also individually, the players need to be ready."
