Raskin: We Must Continue To Work Hard

MIDFIELDER Nico Raskin insists Rangers must continue to work hard as they look to build on this afternoon’s 3-0 victory over St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership.

The Belgian was happy with the display from the Light Blues in Paisley as a double from James Tavernier and an Abdallah Sima goal secured the points.

Raskin said the squad knew they had to bounce back from defeats to Aberdeen and Aris Limassol to get back to winning ways this afternoon. Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, he said: “We are happy, it has been a tough time, we have had a lot of injuries and coming here they were on a good run so I think we played a good game, we scored nice goals so we can only be happy.

“It was important for us to show energy, to play our game and to try to run behind the defence because they were following the strikers quite a lot. We tried to give a different performance to what we did in Cyprus because that wasn't really us so now, we just have to go on and do something good after the international break.”

The 22-year-old provided the assist for the second goal this afternoon, making a darting run into the box before picking out Abdallah Sima, who finished first time for his eighth goal of the season. Raskin said it was a pleasure to play his part in another goal for the on-loan Brighton forward.

He continued: “It was a good move, we kept the ball on the right side and then Cyriel [Dessers] came to the ball so the defender went with him I ran behind and Tav saw me.

“I had the option to shoot or give it to Abdallah, but it is a pleasure to see Abdallah scoring. He has been very important for us, so I am very happy for him, and I hope he continues to score goals.

“We knew we had to show something different today, and I think this was a good performance. Now we have to continue to work, and we have got big games that will start coming and we just have to focus on them and take game after game.”

Raskin, who returned from injury this week, is happy to be back on the pitch after a frustrating few weeks. He added: “I am feeling good, I am a bit tired, but I am feeling ok. It has always been the plan to make my injury as short as I can. We were speaking about three weeks but I came back after two, so it was good.

“I am a bit tired now after two games in one weekbecause I haven’t trained as much but it is good to be back, it was a frustrating time being injured.”
