Head coach McCallum spoke exclusively to RangersTV after the squad’s winning performance against the students last night at Dumbarton Stadium.
McCallum highlighted his delight in how the young Gers performed under the challenges the opposing team presented. He said: "I really enjoyed the game. I think the 5-0 score line makes it look rather comfortable, but our lads had to work for it.
"They pressed us really high, they've tried to make it really difficult for us. We added the pressure and eventually found ways to get control of the game and we found a flow that they found difficult to manage."
The B Team boss underlined the squad’s hunger to be relentless throughout the 90 minutes and how they aim to mirror the game model of the first team. He added: "The energy we want to show before even thinking about how we play the ball has to be evident, and the first half was like that. We managed to keep it going throughout the game.
"We have been tasked to make sure we are as close to the first team as possible in terms of style of play. I think this is credit to the players - they are listening intently, and some have had the opportunity to train with the first team, so the messages are always consistent."
It's another quick turnaround for the youngsters again as they play Edinburgh University on Saturday in an away fixture. McCallum continued speaking of their excitement to play away from home. He continued: "It is good to get to another venue, it’s something a bit different and hopefully the fans will come along and watch."
“It is an exciting game to look forward to. We need to make sure that we influence the game, and we decide what we want the game to look like. We know different opposition will present different challenges, but we must ensure our game model and identity is really clear."
A double from Robbie Ure helped see the team collect another three points in last night’s home fixture against Stirling Uni.
The youngster spoke exclusively to RangersTV after the game to discuss his thoughts on the boys’ desire keep pushing on. He said: "I thought it was a really complete performance from the team.
"I really enjoyed this evening; it was two teams who wanted to play football and I thought our boys played really well.
"After Charlie opened the scoring in the first minute, you could see everyone in the team was hungry to get more and to perform for the fans that have come tonight. I think we were relentless tonight."
The young Ger underlined the busy fixture list that they are facing in the Lowland League but expressed their excitement to play each game and welcome the challenge.
He added: "The fixtures are coming in so quickly at the moment and we are buzzing to get another game under our belts - I am looking forward to another challenge away from home."
