First-half goals from Lizzie Arnot and Sam Kerr saw Rangers ahead at the break before they both netted early in the second-half along with Brogan Hay to secure the points.
Malky Thomson named four changes to his side from the last outing against Partick Thistle with Nicola Docherty, Kayla McCoy, Sam Kerr and Chantelle Swaby all coming into the starting XI.
It was the hosts who had the first chance of the afternoon in the 4th minute as the ball fell for Rosie Mcquillan inside the box. The former Rangers striker drilled a powerful low shot towards goal but it was blocked well by Megan Cunningham.
Rangers had their first chance shortly after as Lizzie Arnot’s corner was flicked towards goal by Jane Ross but her header was cleared off the line by a Spartans defender. The Light Blues were pushing for an early breakthrough in the match, as Arnot cut in from the left to get a shot away but it was held by the home goalkeeper Alicia Yates.
Arnot was again causing problems for the Edinburgh side as she linked-up well with Jane Ross to drive into the box but her right-footed shot was again saved by Yates.
Rangers thought they had the opening goal in the 20th minute as Brianna Westrup tapped home from a corner, but referee Ross Menzies disallowed the goal for a foul on the goalkeeper.
The pressure from Rangers paid off as they did get the all-important goal five minutes later. Sam Kerr did well to beat the defender on the right before driving to the byline and whipping a dangerous cross into the box. Lizzie Arnot was on hand at the back post to head home for her 9th league goal of the season.
Malky Thomson’s side had their second on the half-hour mark with a fantastic strike from Sam Kerr. In her first match since September, the midfielder was certainly making an impact as she doubled the advantage with a brilliant right-footed strike from 25-yards out.
Into the second-half, the Gers started strong and added another goal inside the first two minutes. A lovely ball over the top released Jane Ross down the right and she drove to the byline before.
Rangers were relentless in piling the pressure on the hosts early in the second-half and it was 4-0 with 51 minutes on the clock. Nicola Docherty laid the ball off to Sam Kerr on the edge of the box and the midfielder took a touch into the corner of the box before curling a brilliant left-footed finish into the top corner.
Spartans had a chance to get a goal back as Becky Galbraith was through on goal but her effort was just over the bar.
However, Rangers broke almost instantly from that chance to add to their tally. Lizzie Arnot drove forward before picking out an unmarked Brogan Hay in the box and the substitute slotted the ball into the back of the net.
The hosts did get a goal back with 15 minutes of the match remaining as Becky Galbraith’s shot was turned behind Megan Cunningham after taking a heavy deflection off Tessel Middag.
Spartans were awarded a penalty on the 82nd minute as the referee pointed to the spot as Galbraith went down under the challenge of Gers captain Brianna Westrup. Galbraith stepped up to take the penalty and slotted it beyond Megan Cunningham.
Rangers introduced two youngsters from the Academy for the final five minutes as Emma Watson and Kirsty Maclean both got another taste of first-team action as the Light Blues saw out the remainder of the match.
