Ridvan: Wright Said I Would Score!

RIDVAN has revealed Scott Wright predicted he would score in the victory over Hibernian at Easter Road.

The Turkish defender fired Philippe Clement’s side ahead in the emphatic 3-0 win in their first Premiership game since the winter break.

Winger Wright told him he would burst the net in the capital, but Ridvan admits he was gutted not to celebrate with his pal.

It was his first league goal for the Light Blues - after netting in the Viaplay Cup win over Livingston earlier this season - but he joked he wound up John Lundstram about his pass after slamming it beyond David Marshall.

Speaking to Rangers TV, he said: “It was good to be honest and I was happy after the game.

“Scott Wright said to me I was going to score today and I said 'OK if I score I will come to you'. But he was too far away for me.

“I told John Lundstram his pass was messy, but he was laughing and said 'no chance'.He did so well today and it was a great pass and I was able to score.

“We played well and we are happy with the win.”

Todd Cantwell added to Ridvan’s opener just before the stroke of half-time with super sub Cyriel Dessers’ cute finish late on sealing the victory.

As well as netting the opener, Ridvan was delighted to leave Easter Road with a clean sheet and he believes the squad is continuing to develop under the Belgian boss.

He added: "The clean sheet is important for us and every game we feel like we are improving.

“We want to keep improving and we want to keep going.

“Now we have to build on this win and everyone is getting better.

“We are a very good team and everyone knows how we can play and everyone is important in this team.”
