The attacker was also named as ‘Man of the Match’ for his performance, and speaking to RangersTV at full-time, he was thrilled to get off the mark so quickly into his Ibrox career.
He explained: "It means a lot - I started and I am grateful to be playing after so long - December was my last start in competitive football.
"For me every goal means so much to me whether it is a tap-in from one yard or a goal from the halfway line.
"Every goal is important."
Rangers start to the second half was outstanding, but Roofe wouldn’t be drawn on the manager’s half-time message, continuing: "I can't go into detail! But the gaffer has high standards - we started well and we were putting pressure on their defence but for him, it is hard to please him as he always demands more and more."
Roofe feels he is getting up to scratch in-terms of his match-sharpness thanks to the hard work being put in behind the scenes, and he added: "Fitness is important, like I say, I haven't started a game since December. I have come here and the boys are already flying and are physically excellent.
"So I had to put in some work to get up to speed - it is coming but I think I still have some more work to do."
