Heading into their penultimate fixture of the season, the Under-19s knew two wins would be enough to claim the trophy due to vastly superior goal difference, as they secured a 5-1 win over Dundee United to set up a final-day finale away to St Mirren this Friday.
Speaking to RangersTV after the victory, the goalkeeper commented: “We are very pleased, it was a must-win game full stop. We turned up and delivered, so it is just one more to go, and we keep going.
“It would be massive, winning the league is a hard one because you have to be consistent for however many games.
“It is not just a case of knockout games and maybe earning your luck.
“This is what it means playing for Rangers, big pressure moments in big games, it is up to us to go and deliver.”
The shot stopper reflected on the win, which saw the Gers take control early on with three first-half finishes, before going on to seal the points comfortably with five different goalscorers contributing throughout.
He continued: “We've done very well in the first half to go 3-0 up. At half-time, it was probably just about containing possession and not letting them get a sniff.
“I know we probably conceded in the first five minutes, which wasn't great, but I thought we took the sting out of the game very quickly and just controlled the game.
“You want as much competition in a team as you can, and five different goalscorers puts pressure on other people, and when there is competition, you turn up and play well, so I am very pleased for all the boys that scored their goals.”
It has been an impressive personal season for the young goalkeeper, who recently claimed the club’s Academy Player of the Year award, as he spoke of his continued development and exposure to the first-team this campaign, having trained alongside the likes of Jack Butland and Liam Kelly.
He added: “I was very pleased; it is not often a goalie kind of gets that recognition.
“It has been massive. When I came in last season as a first-year, I was probably a bit naive and not expecting what was to happen.
“I definitely surpassed my expectations last year, so coming in this year was a tough one because I raised the bar so high in the first year, and I think my development has come on so well this year and all thanks to the coaches, especially the first-team coaches, who I am working with week in week out, so credit to them.”
