STEVEN DAVIS believes that there is great competition within the squad as Rangers look forward to an exciting season off the back of today’s Livingston win.
The Rangers midfielder spoke exclusively to RangersTV after today’s winning performance against Livi, and said: “It’s an important win, it’s always important to get off to a good start especially here at home. We’re delighted to collect the three points, three goals and a clean sheet.
“There were periods in the game where we were a bit sloppy and could’ve been a bit more patient with the ball but overall, we’re delighted to get off to a good start.”
Davis underlined the quality of players throughout the squad after Scott Wright’s impact in the match and added the importance each player has to highlight their performance every chance that they get, saying: “Since he’s come in he’s been a ball of energy and brought something different to the squad.
“He’s come back from pre-season in good shape in kicked on from where he’s left off from the back end of last season.
“[John Lundstram] has also settled in very well he’s a top-quality player and brought something different to the squad.
“There’s competition for places throughout the team so whenever you get the opportunity to play it’s important that you’ve got to do your best to keep that shirt – that’s good for the club moving forward and we’re looking forward to an exciting season ahead.”
