It’s the first time since 2011 that Gers have hit four in the fixture, and indeed, it’s the biggest winning margin for the Light Blues over their rivals since Walter Smith’s side secured a 3-0 win in October 2007.
It’s a memorable day for the Champions, and their fans the world over, with their mood reflected by the man in charge.
"I am very happy,” beamed Gerrard as he spoke to RangersTV. “I stood here this time last week and felt really flat and we were on the back of a performance that really stung.
"Today we have completely flipped the mood and put in a performance that thoroughly deserved the win.
"We have scored four fantastic goals with some really impressive assists as well, and the game plan worked to a tee today.
"I thought we were a real threat throughout. I watch a lot of Celtic and they are a good team, but with all due respect, they have got weaknesses, especially in that back-line so I wanted to put two men right up against those centre-halves and cause them problems all night and I wanted Ryan Kent to continue doing what he does to Scott Brown which is to be a right menace and the three of them [up front] were superb and the reason why we have won and won comfortably.
"The rest of the boys were all-in behind that. We had a few moments and a few issues over the 90 minutes, but you are always going to get that when you pick a bold, attacking team like that.
"But credit to the lads, they were superb today."
Gers have now won all 18 home league matches so far this season, with just one more to go.
On that, Gerrard continued: "I am extremely happy. In year one and year two, when you are trying to build a team, our consistency was questioned at times and rightly so as we all realise who we are representing, and at Rangers, drawing and losing games and having bumps in the road, its not acceptable.
"So we have been striving to become more consistent, especially here at home. We want to make it a fortress, we want to make it a difficult place to come and credit to the boys on that front, they have carried it out extremely well.
"There are two more challenges left to go, and I want another six points - I want to keep them hungry and I want to keep them on their toes.
"But what I will say, is 96 points is a special number for me."
Former Rangers manager Alex McLeish was in the studio, and he asked Gerrard about Roofe, with the striker nabbing a double this afternoon.
Gerrard said: "It was the reason why we were so keen to get him in here. We had obviously seen what he had done at Oxford, at Leeds and over in Anderlecht.
"He got a few injuries over in Belgium, but I was so keen to add to the firepower. I think over the course of a season, and you are looking toward 55-60 games with injuries and suspensions that we had suffered in previous years and been heavily reliant on Jermain and Alfredo, they needed help and support.
"The club needed to invest and recruit in more firepower because we believed that was a key area for us to flip from a team that was showing signs of progress to a team that was capable of winning over the course of a season.
"So credit to all the boys. Cedric [Itten] has played his part in that as well and Ryan Kent has gone to the next level in-terms of numbers and we have two of the best assist kings putting deliveries in from the side, so in-terms of what we can create and score, the lads have contributed across the board.
"But for sure, Kemar has made a big difference."
With two games to go, Gers sit just four points off the magical 100-point mark, and could yet go the whole season unbeaten if defeat is avoided away to Livingston and at home to Aberdeen.
Gerrard added: "Having gone out last week which was really disappointing, we tried to pick the boys up this week and we need to give them little small targets within that.
"They are not the priority or the priority at the beginning of the season, but when you have just that to play for, breaking 100 points and the clean sheet record, and individually, can people keep striving for more assists and more goals?
"This is what we are playing on now for the final two games, and obviously, the trophy comes on the last game of the season and we want to put in a real, strong performance against Aberdeen for sure."
