The Ibrox skipper's stunning strike 10 minutes from time was phenomenal - but the spirit and togetherness that has held the Light Blues together in these last few weeks shone through again, and Tavernier was keen to highlight that.
He told RangersTV: "I am really happy I contributed by getting the winning goal, but I thought it was a really good performance from the boys, especially in the second half with how we competed.
"We went down and the goal we conceded, we know we can do better, but I thought the character of the team and the togetherness really showed, and the subs who came on, they really stood out and we got the win.
"We showed a lot of good signs last season, being relentless and seeing games out and I thought we did that today.
"As soon as we went down, we got the goals we needed and then saw the game out. It is always a tough one but credit to Jack [Simpson] and [John Lundstram] and Fashion who came on - Jack was thrown into long balls and he dealt with them really well for us and that is what we need from the squad - people to step up and I thought the boys were terrific who came in to see the win out."
Tavernier also glanced an eye towards the Europa League opener with Lyon on Thursday night, adding: "It is all about recovery now and we can look forward to Thursday.
"It's our first Europa League game at Ibrox, so we know the fans are going to be right behind us and it will be an electric night.
"The boys will be fired up for this one and I can't wait."
