It has been an astonishing journey for the full back, from Championship to Premiership to league winner and then last season, being only the fourth man to lead Gers out for a European final.
He has seen just about it all in his spell with the club, and he took time at today’s press conference ahead of the Almondvale clash to explain why he has remained so committed to the club over that spell.
Tavernier explained: "First and foremost, it is the club that has given me the foundations to go and do what I love to do, and that is play football.
"It is a special place - you can play in the biggest competitions and you are always competing for trophies, and as a football player, you always want to look back at your career and say you have been fighting for these trophies and you have won this and been playing in the biggest competitions.
"That is our aim this season to try and get into one of the biggest competitions - the Champions League and it would be another box ticked.
"There is a lot of hard work to do, but that is our aim.
"I am really happy here, my family is really happy here, and I have always said I am repaying Rangers for giving me that chance and I am enjoying my football here.
"We are continuing to go in the right direction so as long as the club is pushing itself and I am pushing myself, then I am in a very happy place."
Tavernier also spoke warmly about the new players who have joined the group, and what they have added to the squad.
He added: "I think with the recruitment, we have really strengthened in a lot of areas with really good players and I am really happy with all those who have come in.
"We lost two great players in Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo, but I am sure the lads who have come in can play their own way and make a real impact for us going forward."
