It is the final game of the season on Saturday, as the Gers captain prepares to lead the team out at Hampden in the first Old Firm final since 2002.
Speaking to the media at the national stadium today, Tavernier said: “It is obviously important, it is a trophy that we can get our hands on, the last game of the season so it is one last push.
“You come to Rangers to win trophies, and we have got ourselves in the final and we have got to push it over the line and win the trophy.
“We have obviously fallen short a few times in games, but the key thing is taking our moments and I think that is the lesson in these games. When we do get the moments, we have to take them and give ourselves in with the best possible chance to achieve what we want to achieve.”
Tavernier says the squad must do their talking on the pitch, but says they are ready to give their maximum in what is a huge occasion at Hampden.
He continued: “The team itself has the belief and the confidence with each other. We have already highlighted the key moments, we know it will be a different game and we have to do our talking on the pitch.
“Everyone in that changing room tries to give their maximum for the team and for the club and I have never seen anyone fall short of that. They work extremely hard behind the scenes at the training ground and try to obviously put that into a match.
“Everybody wants to end the season on a high. We want to do it for the fans, our families and for the backroom staff who you don't really see, who look after us every single day, you want to do it for everybody.”
On what it is like to lead the team out in such a fixture and how the squad will deal with the pressure, Tavernier continued: “It has not happened for a long time so for the spectators and for the third parties it'll be a game that people will want to watch.
“We are obviously going to relish every moment, we have prepared ourselves the best we can this week and we can only do the talking on the pitch and make it happen.
“We have identified areas that we want to improve, there are always areas we want to be better in and it is about tapping into those moments.
“I don't think the club would sign a player who couldn't handle the pressure of Rangers, to play for this club you need to understand that you are going to be put under pressure.
“Everyone who signs here knows the expectation, so you relish pressure as a footballer. I could continue saying what I have been saying but we obviously have to do our talking on the pitch, and I know the players will relish the moment this weekend.”
