The goalkeeper became the first addition of the calendar year to Jo Potter’s squad, joining from Icelandic side Breidablik on a deal until the summer of 2027.
Speaking to RangersTV in her first exclusive interview after making the switch to Glasgow, she said: “Bringing trophy winning experience? Definitely, when I spoke to the staff when I came here in December they told me Rangers lost the league just on goal difference.
“That is also something I looked at when I was thinking about coming here.
“It is going to be very different from what I am used to, like being home and just being in my environment.
“You can get too comfortable at times so I think it is the right move for me also I have done a lot in Iceland in football so I think it is the right move for me now to go somewhere else.
“It is definitely going to help me a lot, just to make me a better player, get to know the new environment regarding football, and just be a professional player.”
An Iceland international, with 12 caps for her country to date, the shot stopper spoke of her pride at pulling on the jersey and the prospect of potentially featuring at this summer’s European Championships.
She continued: “I love it, right now we have qualified for the Euros this summer, so it is very exciting to have something that is coming this summer, something this big like this Euros.
“Being in the squad and being with the girls is just such an honour and to represent Iceland is always amazing.
“When you go to the national team there is competition, you have to be the best version of yourself just to compete with the girls who are there and they are also so good.
“They wouldn't be in the national team if they weren't good, I think it is very important to have competition everywhere you go.
After winning the league back in October in her nation, Ivarsdottir says she will have to adapt to making the switch at this point in the campaign but is looking forward to what’s to come.
She added: “I am very excited but I am not going to lie I think it is difficult to come in when the season has already started and mine was just finishing in Iceland.
“I am looking forward to getting to know them better.
“I have known about Rangers for a couple of years now, hearing about them in the Champions League and also the men's team.
“I watch a lot of football and I watch the Premier League a lot.
“I have known of the team, so I was just looking forward to seeing what it was like when I came here in December.”
