The goalkeeper, who has 12 international caps for her country and helped her nation qualify for this summer’s UEFA European Championships, will join up with the Light Blues for the second half of the campaign.
At 25-years-old, she brings to the Gers a wealth of trophy winning as well as Champions League experience, having won Iceland’s top flight in October 2024, whilst getting her hands on various other domestic cups in her home country over the years.
She was also named Goalkeeper of the Season in the last campaign, keeping 12 clean sheets in 20 outings. Ívarsdóttir is the first signing of the calendar year and is looking to add more trophies to her collection at the club.
Speaking after joining Rangers, Ívarsdóttir said: “I am so excited and very glad that I decided to come here.
“I am very excited for the next couple of months.
“Just meeting Jo and Donald was enough, they didn't have to say anything.
“They showed me the facility and the training ground and I just fell in love with everything and also fell in love with Glasgow, they didn't have to say anything to convince me.
“I know it is a top team I know they are always at the top and always qualify for the Champions League.
“I would definitely want to bring my experience of winning the league and cups.”
Women’s Head Coach, Jo Potter, continued: “We are extremely excited to bring Telma into the squad.
“She is a great up and coming keeper, we have tracked her progress over the last year or so.
“She has made some great appearances at international level for such a young keeper for an established squad.
“To play so well against USA and Germany, it says something about her as a character that can step into that position so it is something that we have been trying to get across the line for a while and we are super happy to finally get it done.”
