Rangers secured their well-earned place in the cup final of the tournament after a dominant display in Edinburgh following their 4-0 victory away from home.
Speaking exclusively to RangersTV following the squad’s win where they will face Hibernian at Tynecastle next month, he said: “I’m very pleased. I think all the effort and application that all the players put into their daily actions in training, and it came through today. I thought it was a solid performance, especially our back five – they were phenomenal.
“There’s massive competition in the squad, that’s everyone fit except Jane Ross and Megan Bell. It’s a fit and hungry squad that want to win, you can see that in them.”
Thomson outlined the importance to create a variation of goals on the pitch this afternoon but highlighted the key role that the backline played in maintaining a clean sheet throughout the 90 minutes.
He added: “We’ve been very good; it gives us a solid base to build upon. When they’re [backline] as secure and as sure in their jobs, it allows the others to play. I’m delighted!”
The Gers will take to the Tynecastle pitch next month where they will face Hibernian in the cup final, and the Light Blues boss reiterated the positive opportunity that will provide the squad.
He continued: “It’s a big stadium, it will be new to some of the girls. A stadium in the capital, it’s a final and it’s also one that we’ve never managed to be in. We’re looking forward to it.
“It’s a bit away just now, we’ll take our break and come in next week to look towards our planning for our next league game.”
