A double from Jenny Danielsson and a goal from Brogan Hay ensured Rangers progressed into the final of the Round 1 mini-tournament on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking to RangersTV at full time, Malky Thomson said: “I think at the start of the game we had to compete physically against them and we have done that. We played in spells, the surface wasn't great but in spells we played and over all we managed the game very well.
“The one thing we do know is that we can play football, every one of them can handle the ball and going into the game the only question for myself was the physicality. We knew that Ferencvaros were a physical team and it was just how we were going to handle that.
“That’s not only in terms of being physical back but handling it mentally and not getting caught up in it and that was the real bit from me that they showed a real mentality not to get caught up in the noise and maintain the standards.”
Thomson was pleased with the contribution of the whole squad in what was Rangers first ever match in the UEFA Women’s Champions League as he now looks ahead to Sunday’s final against PAOK.
He continued: “We knew the substitutions we put on were going to add value to our team and to the game. You can see at the start of the game Jenny has got two goals and you are bringing on Brogan Hay who has unbelievable pace and has added a lot of physicality to her game too.
“We will switch off tonight, the staff will then put in place the preparations, we will go and look at the opposition and tomorrow we will have a roll call. We will go about our plan as we always do ahead of the PAOK game on Sunday.”
