A rampant first half display in North Lanarkshire saw the Light Blues head in at half time five goals to the good before they added a sixth towards the end.
Speaking to RangersTV after the match the manager has hailed his team’s display in the opening 45 minutes as the Gers went on to make it three wins in a row.
He said: “I thought first half we were excellent, stuck to our game plan and created some real good width and some good passages of play and our ball speed was good.
“Obviously we make the changes in the second half, I thought we lost a bit of our momentum certainly by only managing to score the one goal in the second half, so a wee bit disappointed with the second half performance, however it is three points and we keep the journey moving forward.”
Thomson was happy with the purpose his side showed in the first half at Broadwood and has encouraged the team to continue being ruthless in the games coming up.
He continued: “The intent that we had and the way that we played in the first half was good and encouraging.
“I think the second half it is always the same it dies a wee bit but I think we have got to get better and more ruthless in terms of really being cutthroat, especially in the second half, when we have got the vast majority of the ball and massive amount of possession in comparison to the other team.”
Four of the Rangers goals were scored from set pieces and the boss was delighted with the quality of delivery on display from his team in the match.
He added: “What is key about that is we have got individuals such as Tessel Middag and Lizzie Arnot who can really deliver, Megan Bell as well in the second half the free kick.
“They’re hard to defend if you put in such good deliveries, it is just then who is brave enough to get on the end of it, and certainly Lisa did that in the game.”
The manager hailed the performance of Lisa Martinez as she was on hand to score three first half goals from centre-back.
He said: “I suppose in this game it doesn't matter where the goals come from whether they come from defence, midfield or attack, it is something that we have highlighted that we should be scoring more from set pieces and fair play to Lisa she scored some good goals.”
Rangers now head into Scottish Cup action next weekend before their split fixtures begin and Thomson feels his team are well prepared for the busy schedule that lies ahead.
He said: “It is going to be hectic and it is going to be something that we need to be prepared for, we know the task that is at hand, we have got some real important games coming up thick and fast.
“There will be a lot of midweek games so there will be a real demand put on the team physically and mentally, but we have put a lot of good work into not just this season but last season as well.
“We know the task that is at hand and we are up for it and prepared for it.”
