The Light Blues got back to winning ways with their first league victory of 2023 after drawing with Hearts last weekend and the manager was delighted with the manner of the performance which saw his team ease past their opponents in East Kilbride.
Speaking to RangersTV Thomson was full of praise for his side’s showing on what was an impressive performance on the day.
He said: “It was dominant, I am really pleased and happy with the fact that the players preparation was great all week.“
Looking back to last week I know the girls were hurting, and they had to stomach that, we couldn’t wait for this game to happen.”
The manager was happy his side could get back to winning ways after the frustrations of last week’s draw in Edinburgh and said there was several good displays all over the park on the day.
He continued: “That is what the team is capable of, if we have the vast majority of players playing well at the same time then we are difficult to beat and contain.“
We had a real focus and desire, we were desperate to play in that game today, which is great, it is pleasing for me to see a team become a team and be stronger and pull together.”
Thomson has hailed the quality of goals on display in their performance with the fast start being a notable highlight as Tessel Middag put the away side in front after just two minutes to set them on their way.
He said: “We play with an intent to go forward all the time, and you could see it right from the word go.“
We were desperate to access areas of the pitch and we were going to create opportunities to score, but we had a hunger and a desire, I am delighted I cannot praise them enough.“
We talk about fine margins and one percenters, we do know that we are fitter and stronger, but we probably lacked a bit of quality against Hearts, which we definitely showed today.“
We took care of the ball better, we got into better areas and created a lot of chances, Motherwell are a well organised team, it is a great result for us.”
The result was ideal preparation for the Light Blues as they get ready to do battle with table toppers Glasgow City next weekend and the manager wants them to enjoy the moment before they get ready for their next outing.
He stated: “I think the Glasgow City game we will take that in isolation, we will enjoy this tonight because at Rangers it is about enjoying performances and scorelines like that.“
We will definitely enjoy this one then we will look forward to the City game come next Sunday.”
