The Light Blues made it six wins in a row to open their league campaign, turning in a dominant performance at Broadwood Stadium.
Speaking to RangersTV after the victory, Thomson reflected on his side’s display: “It was great. I thought their attitude, desire and passion all came through.
“It was one of the things that we spoke about, going from playing in the Champions League to the domestic campaign. It was important that we started the game properly with a real good professional attitude and I think we did that throughout the 90 minutes.
“The confidence is spreading within the group. It’s testament to the staff and their preparation. We have Craig and Kevin doing a great job, the rest of the staff behind the scenes.
“A lot of hard work and preparation goes in for us to go onto the pitch and perform the way that we have performed.”
There were four different goalscorers on the scoresheet for the Light Blues, with Lizzie Arnot breaking the deadlock in the first half before goals from Kirsty Howat, Brogan Hay and substitute Kayla McCoy rounded off a fine afternoon’s work.
He continued: “I think there’s a competition within the squad. Part of our profiling with the players is that the goals come from all over the pitch.
“We’re committed and always on the front foot, that principle of being attack-minded, so it’s pleasing that we got four different goalscorers.”
Attention now shifts to midweek as Rangers travel to Portugal to face SL Benfica in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League qualifying tie.
Thomson added: “It’s the level that we want to play at. That’s the nature of this club. We want to be involved in European football as well as domestic football.
“Today was a challenge, Benfica will be a different challenge. We move on and look forward to getting out there.”
