A convincing first half display saw the Light Blues go in at the break three goals to the good before a further two were to follow in an all-round display at Petershill Park.
Speaking to RangersTV after the victory Thomson was happy his side could carry on their momentum before the international break to claim three points.
He said: “It was great, I think they really performed at a high level again, I asked them prior to the break to maintain the levels and the standards that they had and I thought they done that well.
“The experienced girls really helped the youth players; I am extremely proud of what we do at Rangers giving youth players the opportunity to play in such an important game as it was today.
“It is a valuable three points, but again we have got faith and belief in all the youngsters when they are playing, Mia McAulay, Jenna Ferguson and Laura Berry coming on to compete in the Premier League and actually add value to it is something special for me.
“The head coach was particularly happy with the start his side made to the contest with two quick fire goals from Howat and Kerr to put them in control at the break having already been a goal to the good.”
He continued: “It was really smooth; we knew that this particular pitch is quite narrow so it is important that you maximise the width in it.
“It is important that you then give options to the player that is receiving the ball, is it a one two into the pocket or are you leaving her one v one.“I think in the first half Emma Watson gave us some good width on one side, Jodi McLeary did the same on the other.
“Nothing really changed with our game plan in putting the substitutes on when Mia McAulay comes on, she definitely got herself into positions that gave a real problem to Partick Thistle.
“It is great, we have got such a group that are so together, they bond well together and they are relentless in their approach to training.
“The girls that have come back from international duty really contributed, they set the tone about being professional and focusing on what the task was at hand.”
Thomson hailed the performance of midfielder Sam Kerr after she claimed a first Rangers hat-trick on the day and wants her to keep adding numbers to her game moving forward.
He added: “We are always looking to improve our games and part of Sam's game was to add goals, to add goals to her performances.“We know she is a fantastic player, a good quality and technically gifted player and an intelligent player as well.
“Hitting goals is something she is starting to do now and she will become a valuable asset in the future, especially when we look at from Kirsty Mclean going on and she manages to score as well so that is another objective for her.”
The manager stressed the importance of starting a crucial week for the club well with a match against league leaders Glasgow City and a Scottish Cup semi-final to come in the next six days.
He said: “ It is momentum and three points, we speak about everything we do during the week, that then gives us the platform to go and perform.
“We need to make sure that what we are doing during the week is relevant, and what we are doing allows us to step onto the park confident and play the football that we played today.”
