Tessel Middag’s free-kick midway through the second-half was the difference in a tough match at Meadowbank and Thomson was pleased his side could pick up the points in the end.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, he said: “I don't think it was our best performance, especially in possession but credit to Hibs they really protected the middle of the park.
“It was a real emotional day with a lot of things going on in the background but I think the girls were professional again. I don't think we really had any real problems with Hibs however the fact was we weren't good enough in possession.
“There was nothing there that surprised us this evening but again the mentality is there. Sometimes we need to rely on a bit of technical genius and a bit of flair but what we do know is there is a resilient nature about the squad and they have a winning mentality.
“Whether you win 1-0 in this league or whether you win 5-0 it just comes down to getting three points.”
Thomson is pleased with the competition in his squad and feels it is a positive environment for the players to continue to push each other.
He continued: “Jenna [Fife] had a fantastic game tonight, I thought her handling and distribution was great but she has got a New Zealand goalkeeper breathing down her neck and likewise Vic has got Jenna breathing down her neck so there's competition in the squad.
“It is a real healthy environment in a positive way and I think that has a factor as well that every player in there could start a game. We have got faith and belief in them so the competition levels are up which adds to the reason why we won today.”
