MALKY Thomson says Rangers must be solid at both ends of the pitch as they prepare to host Celtic in the Park’s Motor Group SPWL 1 on Sunday.
Following an international break, Gers will be looking to bounce back from Scottish Cup disappointment and Thomson says his squad are looking forward to the challenge.
Speaking to RangersTV ahead of the match, he said: “There’s nothing better than getting on that stage and the girls are really craving that and are looking forward to the challenge.
“The result didn’t go our way the last time but we know why and it is fine margins but that gives us a real eagerness heading into our next game. The girls have worked ever so hard, along with the staff, to get into the position we are right now and we must maintain those standards.
“We know that we are possession-based, we keep the ball, we have some great passages of play and we have some real good moments where we control play but it is the fine margins at both ends.
“We have got to take our chances when we do have that possession and also when we are getting countered and the few attacks that opposition have against us we have to be so solid - it is about looking after either end of the pitch.”
With 10 players away representing their country over international break, Thomson says the remainder of the squad have been working hard at Auchenhowie before the full group returned on Thursday.
He continued: “It is really good for the club and the fact that these players are now at a level where they are representing their countries and getting recognition and that is credit to them.
“There was a real focus and attention and time spent with the girls still here because they know their development and their preparation for the next game is vital.
“We have focused on a lot of individual stuff and position-focused stuff and we gave them a bit of a break as well which I think mentally was good for them.”
