The midfielder thought the squad showed signs of growth as they drew with the Bundesliga side in the German capital, with attention now turning to the start of the Scottish Premiership next Saturday.
Speaking exclusively to RangersTV at full-time Lawrence said: “It was a crazy game in the end, they are a good team and I think we showed signs that we are growing as a team as well and we are looking forward to the start of the season now.
“That is what we need, proper games like this to stand us in good stead for next week and so on but it was a tough test.
“For me personally, it is good to get a pre-season under my belt, I feel fit, ready to go and that is the main thing.
“It is always good to score goals especially in my position, I need to create goals and score goals and if I don't then it is on me so that is what I need to do this season.”
On the team goals this afternoon, Lawrence added: “We work on it every day in training so when it comes off in a game like that it is always nice, and we just need to aim for more every time.”
Reflecting on the first pre-season under Philippe Clement, he continued: “It has been tough, I wouldn't have expected anything less, but it puts you in a good place to get the minutes and the games against good opposition is great.
“We are looking forward to getting going in a positive way in the league.”
