Umaro Balde Q&A Highlights

RANGERS Academy midfielder Umaro Balde enjoyed a Twitter Q&A with supporters for RYDC last week – here at the highlights of his session.

The 17-year-old, who left Sporting Lisbon to join Rangers this summer,  is enjoying life in Glasgow and is learning every day from the talented coaches at the Hummel Training Centre.

He has been warmly received by fans since he moved to Scotland and was delighted to take part in a Q&A for the Rangers Youth Development Company.

Q – Scott McKay – What’s your favourite position and style of play? Does Rangers suit that?

A – I am a central defensive midfielder and Rangers is very good for me.

Q – Alex – How long do you think you will be ready for first-team football?

A – I am ready now if I get the opportunity to train or play with the first team.

Q – Logan – What’s your favourite thing about Glasgow?

A – I like Glasgow city centre – it is beautiful.

Q – King Kamara – Footballing inspiration growing up?

A – N’Golo Kanté at Chelsea – he plays in the same position as me. We have a similar style of football.

Q – Colin – What are the main differences between training at Sporting & Rangers?

A – At Rangers you do more work and it is very good for players here. The academy is very good, a very nice place to train.

Q – Cairo Kearney – Any special pre-match things you do? And how are Rangers treating you?

A – Yes before each game I read for my religion. Rangers are very good for me and I am very happy here. I work hard here and I like it

Q – Lewis Morley – Who was your idol growing up ?

A – N’Golo Kanté at Chelsea – I also like watching Glen Kamara and Joe Aribo at Rangers.

Q – Lewis Morley – Who is your best friend at Rangers?

A – Adam Devine – he has helped me settle at Rangers and told me good things about the club. We go out for food in Glasgow and he is my very good friend.

Q – Logan – Do you get recognised a lot in public?

A – Yes when I go to Ibrox for games the Rangers fans always say hello and welcome me  to the club. I am training hard and my dream is to play for the Rangers first team for a long time.

Q – Archie – what do you think of Steven Gerrard and the first team right now?

A – Steven Gerrard is a very good coach and person. This year I hope Rangers can win the league and next year play in the Champions League.

Q – Rab – Since arriving at Rangers, who do you see as your friends and who makes you laugh?

A – Adam Devine, Danny Finlayson, Harris O’Connor, Kyle McLelland and John Balde.

Q – Gaz – How are you liking being part of the famous Glasgow Rangers?

A – Very much. Everyone at Rangers has really helped me – staff and players. I am very happy to be here. Moving to Rangers is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Q – Darren – Are you finding it easy to adapt to the style of Scottish football?

A – Yes. It is good football and I am happy here.
