Rangers have campaigned for the introduction of the technology since 2019 and this week SPFL clubs voted in favour of having VAR in the top-flight in Scotland.
When asked about it at this morning’s press conference ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Motherwell, van Bronckhorst said: “I am a big fan of VAR because I think it will help referees in their decisions and I am really happy that it is coming to the league after the World Cup.
“It will make it easier for referees to make the right decisions in difficult moments so I am very positive about VAR coming.
“There are many big decisions to be made in the game and it will always be a talking point not only here but you can see it everywhere in the big leagues but I think that is why VAR is important because it takes away some of the decisions that are made.
“There always has to be respect for everyone involved in the game, the players and the referees. Football is about emotions and people like to talk about the game but I think to have respect for one another is the most important thing.”
The boss said the squad are looking forward to a busy end to the season and is grateful to have this weekend’s Motherwell game brought forward ahead of Thursday’s UEFA Europa League semi-final first leg away to RB Leipzig.
He continued: “It was a huge boost for us and it was very positive to win the Scottish Cup semi-final last weekend and be in the final of the cup this year - a win is always positive for morale.
“It was a good week for us and we were able to get some rest this week too. We will be playing almost twice a week for the rest of the season and it is very demanding for all of us but we are looking forward to it with so many important games.
“I am very happy about the Motherwell game being pulled forward and grateful for everyone involved. I think it is good for all of us so I am happy that we can play tomorrow and it gives us more time to prepare for the Leipzig game on Thursday.
“You have to assess the players almost every day and how they feel because you know when you pick a team there are many factors and for us it is very important to keep them fresh and optimal for the games they play”
