The Light Blues celebrated silverware in the form of the League Cup in December, while the side also netted three times away to Real Betis in another memorable European evening.
The following strikes are up for nomination:
James Tavernier vs. Aberdeen
The source of the goal was of little surprise given the enormity of the moments that the captain has provided for Rangers in recent years, but the quality was also fitting of the occasion.
Arriving at the far post as he has done so many times in his Ibrox career, Tavernier cushioned a deep Borna Barisic delivery down on his chest before planting an unstoppable finish under Kelle Roos in the Aberdeen goal.
Cyriel Dessers vs. Real Betis
The technique involved in the goal, coupled with the magnitude of the occasion, will ensure that it’s a strike fondly remembered by Gers fans for years to come.
After collecting the ball on the left-hand side, the Nigerian squared up his marker, faked to move inside, before proceeding to produce a delicious chop to manufacture space for an effort; finished with immense composure when he devilishly slotted the ball through the legs of the Betis goalkeeper.
Todd Cantwell vs. Motherwell
The Light Blues were rampant in the first half at Fir Park on Christmas Eve, with Cantwell’s strike capping off an electric start for the side.
Indeed, it was a well-worked move from the Gers to fashion the goal, with Ridvan’s cross neatly chested down by Abdallah Sima and into the path of the English midfielder who swept a gorgeous first-time finish into the bottom corner.
Abdallah Sima vs. Hearts
It was a training ground routine which proved Hearts’ undoing as Sima netted the only goal of the game at Tynecastle in a 1-0 win.
Tavernier proved the architect once again, engineering a lovely give-and-go with Ross McCausland before bursting into space in midfield. Lifting his head, he fed a lovely slide rule pass into Sima who kept his cool to round Zander Clark and knock the ball into an empty net.
Kieran Dowell vs. Motherwell
Dowell enjoyed an excellent December, with the high point arriving in his opening goal against the Steelmen in Lanarkshire.
The Englishman both started and provided the end point on the move, robbing Callum Slattery of possession inside his own defensive third before striding into the penalty area and guiding a powerful finish high into the roof of the net following a smart one-two with Dessers.
