The versatile defender has recently become a regular to Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s starting XI and insisted he is ready to seize the opportunities presented to him.
Speaking to the press ahead of the Premier Sports Cup fixture against Gary Bowyer’s side, King said: “It’s amazing. To be young and get this chance at such a big football club is still surreal for me, and my full family are proud as well.
“It’s a massive opportunity but it’s up to me to take that opportunity, the boss has shown that he can play different players in different positions as well so it’s up to me to grasp it with both hands.”
The young Ger reflected on the recent Champions League group stage challenges but reiterated the squad will remain united as he continues to gain valuable exposure on the pitch in high calibre matches.
He continued: “I haven’t had much time to think about the games that I’ve played in because the games have been coming thick and fast, but once we start to get a bit of a break, I’ll start to look and reflect on what’s happened the last hectic few weeks.
“It was crazy but those are the games that I want to be playing in, I want to play Champions League games for this football club. We just need to pick ourselves up from last week’s tough defeat against Liverpool to bounce back and go again.
“We win as a team, and we lose as a team. We’re a tight-knit group and we’ll always bounce back from tough moments like that.”
The youngster believes that sharing the backline with Connor Goldson and Ben Davies will only push him in a positive direction for his own personal development.
He continued: “He’s still here and around the training ground [Connor Goldson], it’ll be massive to get tips from him and to see him around the building which will give us massive confidence.
"He’s been amazing [Ben Davies], and you can see that he has a lot of experience at a higher level, it’s just about trying to dig into each part that he’s learned from different clubs as well to adapt into my game.
“I work closely with the coaching staff and senior players as well so it’s just about getting as much information and experience that I can at a young age.
“I’ll play anywhere the manager needs me. You need to be able to play with the ball at a club like Rangers, it’s always going to stand me in good stead to play in front of 50,000 at Ibrox.
“I just concentrate on the job here; I don’t really pay attention to anything outside these gates and four walls.”
King also took time to reflect on his journey at the club so far, as he continues to make positive strides within van Bronckhorst’s first-team at such a young age.
He continued: “I only see this as the start, being a young one and getting flung into the first team at such a young age. You see the likes of Alex [Lowry], Adam [Devine] and Charlie [McCann] getting their chance, to be a Rangers fan as well is amazing.
“I’ve come through the academy from the Elite Centre on a Sunday night, it’s just about keeping your head down and working hard.”
