A trio of Gers players were involved in the Scotland squad as they played out a pair of friendlies matches in Cadiz, Spain, to round off their outings for 2025.
Light Blues captain Nicola Docherty was in the starting lineup and featured for 79 minutes as the Scots scored an injury time equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Ukraine on Friday morning, with winger Mia McAulay coming off the bench and defender Leah Eddie an unused substitute.
Melissa Andreatta’s side were then in action again last night, with Docherty in the side from the off and her two club teammates on the bench, as the team held off China in a 3-2 win having been 3-0 up as they rounded off the year on a high. As attention now turns to World Cup qualifiers getting underway in March.
Quinty Sabajo – Suriname

Dominican Republic 2-2 Suriname – CONCACAF Championship Qualifier
Quinty was part of the Suriname national team in competitive matches for the first time over the break as they began preliminary qualifiers for next November’s CONCACAF Championships where they will target taking a step closer to reaching the World Cup finals.
Through the allegiance of her father, the Dutch born midfielder got the chance to pull on the jersey for the first time as they claimed four points from the first two outings.
Suriname claimed a 3-1 success over Anguilla firstly, before Sabajo was in the lineup as they let a two-goal lead slip away to Dominican Republic last night in a 2-2 draw.
Li Mengwen – China
England 8-0 China – International Friendly
Scotland 3-2 China – International Friendly
Li joined up with the China national team over the most recent break where they also contested two friendly outings to round off their matches for the calendar year.
The full-back got the privilege of gracing the famous Wembley turf as her nation faced-off against the reigning European Champions on Saturday evening, although China were on the wrong end of a heavy defeat against a strong England side.
They then jetted across to Spain as the defender got the chance to see some familiar faces from club level as the Asian nation took on Scotland last night, with the Scots coming out 3-2 winners in an entertaining five-goal matchup with Li starting both games for her country.
Kim Shin Ji – South Korea
South Korea 1-1 Wales – International Friendly
Netherlands 5-0 South Korea – International Friendly
Shin Ji joined up with the South Korea national team for the first time this season as they participated in two friendly matches in Europe.
The midfielder was named in the starting side who contested a 1-1 draw with Wales last Friday, before they took on the Dutch and were on the wrong end of a heavy defeat as they rounded off their respective games for 2025.
Quickly becoming a fans’ favourite in Glasgow after signing on a season-long loan from AS Roma, the 21-year-old will hope to play a part in Rangers’ final three outings in December before the winter break kicks in.
Eilidh Austin, Fallon Connolly-Jackson and Jodi McLeary – Scotland Under-23s
Belgium Under-23’s 2-0 Scotland Under-23’s – International Friendly
Three Rangers players were involved in the Scotland Under-23’s squad as they faced-off against Belgium in their final fixture of the year.
It was a stern test for the young Scots, who were beaten 2-0 on the day away from home as their games programme for 2025 reached its conclusion.
There was a start in the side for midfielder Jodi McLeary, who got the honour of captaining the team, whilst Eilidh Austin also was named in lineup with defender Fallon Connolly-Jackson amongst the substitutes in Tubize.
May Cruft and Jess Pegram – England Under-20s

England Under-20’s 3-2 Mexico Under-20’s – International Friendly
Duo of May Cruft and Jess Pegram were part of the England Under-20’s squad who played out three friendly matches over the last week to round off the year.
Helping the Under-19’s age group take a step closer to Euro qualifying last month; they got a chance to test themselves at a higher level with some competitive outings out in Spain.
Firstly, the pair came off the bench just after the half time interval in a 2-1 win over China last Wednesday, before Cruft was in the lineup and Pegram on the bench as they fell to defeat to a young USA side on Saturday afternoon. They rounded off the year with a 2-1 success over Mexico, with both earning further minutes respectively to gain further valuable experience at national team youth level.

Scotland Under-19’s 4-1 Croatia Under-19’s – U19 European Championship Round One Qualifier
It was a fantastic international break for the young Scots as they progressed through Round One of Under-19’s European Championship qualifiers unbeaten.
Striker Laura Berry enjoyed a vastly impressive seven days with a further four strikes for her country at youth level, as she was joined in the squad by Motherwell loan pair Lily Boyce and Sophie Black, as well as on loan Hamilton forward Sophie Townsley and Gartcairn loanee Mia McArthur, who was a late inclusion.
Young attacker Berry got her side on level terms against Norway a week ago in a 1-1 draw at Broadwood, before she played her part with a decisive equaliser against the Dutch in a 2-1 comeback win in Kirkintilloch on Saturday. Scotland then claimed another win with a 4-1 success over Croatia yesterday afternoon, with Berry bagging a brace, as they finished the group on seven points to progress to the next phase as runners-up.
