Three Gers were involved in the Scotland squad over the second international break of 2026 as they continued their positive start in their pursuit of qualification for next summer’s FIFA World Cup finals to be played in Brazil.
Having begun the group with back-to-back wins, a double header against the favourites Belgium followed, with Scotland remaining unbeaten with a point in each encounter over the last week.
They first played out a 1-1 draw with a last-gasp equaliser for Melissa Andreatta’s side, before a goalless stalemate followed four days later. Captain Nicola Docherty was in the starting lineup on both occasions, with teammates Mia McAulay on the bench for both and Jodi McLeary in the squad for the first encounter.
Laura Rafferty – Northern Ireland

Malta 2-4 Northern Ireland – FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifier
Laura joined up with Northern Ireland once again over the break as they got their respective qualifying campaign back on track following two opening defeats.
They took on Malta on two occasions, firstly running out comfortable 4-0 winners at home, before a 4-2 victory away followed on Saturday, with the centre-back featuring off the bench in the latter matchup for the final 15 minutes.
In Michael McArdle’s first camp in charge, they currently occupy third place in their group, a point adrift of Turkey and four off leaders Switzerland heading into the June matches.
Calliste Brookshire – Greece

Greece 1-1 Moldova – International Friendly
The winger was on international duty for Greece once again during the break as she continues to enjoy an impressive second half of the season for both club and country.
A consistent performer in the Rangers ranks since her January arrival, she helped Greece to a third straight qualifying win as they currently sit top of their group with maximum points in their attempt to reach next summer’s finals.
Drawn in a group of three, they played a friendly in their second outing, drawing 1-1 with Moldova as Brookshire earned more minutes this time off the bench.
Kim Shin Ji – South Korea
Brazil 5-1 South Korea – International Friendly
Canada 3-1 South Korea – International Friendly
South Korea 1-1 Zambia – International Friendly
Shin Ji was in Brazil over the international break as South Korea participated in the 2026 FIFA Women’s Series friendly tournament.
Contesting three outings over in South America, the midfielder earned more minutes for her national team, having come off the bench in their defeat to Brazil, before being named in the starting side for the second outing against Canada.
The Gers fan’s favourite also featured in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup last month, helping her country reach the semi-final stage in the competition contested in Australia.
Eilidh Austin – Scotland Under-23s
Scotland Under-23s 0-1 France Under-23s – International Friendly
Scotland Under-23s 0-0 Denmark Under-23s – International Friendly
Eilidh was the sole Rangers representative in the Scotland Under-23s squad as they headed to Spain to take part in the final fixtures of this year’s European competition.
Played at Pinatar, the young Scots will firstly narrowly lose out to France before being beaten 5-4 on penalties by Denmark, with Austin earning gametime in both outings.
The games determined the final standings in this year’s inaugural campaign, and the Scots will face France again in next year’s tournament along with Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden.

Austria Under-19s 1-2 Scotland Under-19s – UEFA U19 European Championship Round Two Qualifier
Scotland Under-19s 9-0 North Macedonia Under-19s – UEFA U19 European Championship Round Two Qualifier
Scotland Under-19s 1-2 Norway Under-19s – UEFA U19 European Championship Round Two Qualifier
It was heartbreak for the young Scots as they narrowly missed out on qualification to this summer’s Under-19s Euros over the break.
They got off the best possible start with a come from behind win over Austria, with striker Laura Berry captaining the side and her fellow Gers teammates also in the lineup.
An emphatic win followed, with Sophie Black opening the scoring and Berry on the scoresheet again as they set up a final match showdown with Norway. Unfortunately, a defeat in the final match followed as Gary Doctor’s side missed out on a place in the tournament in which they last competed back in 2019, which they hosted.

England Under-19s 2-3 Wales Under-19s – UEFA U19 European Championship Round Two Qualifier
England Under-19s 0-2 Switzerland Under-19s – UEFA U19 European Championship Round Two Qualifier
Two Rangers players were involved in the England youth ranks in what turned out to be a disappointing final set of qualifiers as they too missed out on qualification for the tournament to be played in Bosnia and Herzegovina this summer.
They began their matches played in Switzerland positively with a 5-0 win over Latvia, with Pegram appearing off the bench. Before the pair were in the lineup that lost out 3-2 against their club teammate Soffia Kelly, as Wales claimed a memorable win.
Cruft was in the lineup and Pegram among the subs in the final outing, as the hosts claimed a 2-0 victory, seeing the young Lionesses mess out in what was Lauren Smith’s last match in charge of the Under-19s.

Soffia was also on duty at Under-19s level over the break as her Wales side narrowly missed out on qualification despite putting up a good fight as underdogs in their matches.
The shot stopper started all three games, as they responded superbly to their 3-0 defeat in their first outing with a memorable 3-2 success over England before beating Latvia in the last matchday, ultimately missing out on top spot to the hosts by three points.
Getting valuable game time on the national stage, the young goalkeeper will be looking to earn minutes for the Gers in their remaining matches this season, having yet to make her debut after joining on loan from Aston Villa back in January.
