Amirian this month joined the Rangers Academy from Belgian Pro League side OH Leuven where he worked across all academy age groups and most recently spent time as interim assistant first-team coach.
He also functions as a Talent Development Expert at Double Pass, the renowned organisation which assesses, advises and educates national associations, leagues, clubs and individuals on optimising their talent development.
Speaking to RangersTV for the first time, the Belgian beamed: “I’m very excited because working for Rangers is a dream come true.
“It’s not only a proud moment for myself, but also for my family.
“The integration visits that I had were a big plus for me; I got the chance to get to know the people, culture and environment better. The people here have welcomed me as if I’m one of their own.
“I’m motivated to bring my energy and passion to the table and pass it on to the staff and players in the academy.
“It’s very important to be passionate and hard working when you are part of Rangers.
“I’ve been on the pitch a lot with the players already and you can see the fire in their eyes. They are really passionate and open to learning.”
Indeed, Amirian brings a wealth of experience to the Rangers Training Centre, where he will work closely alongside Academy Director, Zeb Jacobs, to strengthen the pathway between the Academy and first-team.
And the Belgian says he’s excited to get out onto the grass and forge a close connection to both the young players and staff.
He added: “The role of Head of Academy Football is very dynamic.
“I think the first thing that will be important is to be out on the pitch with players and staff a lot, creating that connection with them, and also looking at how we can improve the session design, methodology, and football strategy.
“We’re also going to invest a lot in the coach development plan, because we truly believe that creating better coaches will create better players.
“We have a lot of interesting data in place with our coaching reports, but now the idea is to implement this.
“The high potential player programme will also be important and we’re going to accelerate that. It’s very important that I have a lot of one-on-one sessions with the players to get the maximum out of their potential.
“I think working with a first-team made me understand how big my passion was for player development.
“I’m really passionate about creating the most exciting learning environment in sport.”
