Olivia McLoughlin Excited To Join An Ambitious Rangers

OLIVIA MCLOUGHLIN says she is excited to be joining a club with the ambition of Rangers.

The 19-year-old sealed a loan move to the Light Blues until the end of the season as she made the temporary switch from WSL side Aston Villa.

Speaking to RangersTV exclusively for the first time since signing for the Gers, the youngster is hoping to have a positive impact on the side as they go in search for silverware in the second half of the season.

She said: “I am really excited and that was a massive thing for me. Coming to a club with such ambition and things to fight for. Obviously the two cups as well as the league title I think that is massive and every game means something. I have never had that before so I am really excited.

“I want to have as much as a positive impact on the team as possible, hopefully winning, all them things. Also I think just getting loads of minutes and working under Jo again I am really excited for that so I am really excited to start.”

The versatile midfielder spoke of what she hopes to bring to the team and what she knew about the club before deciding on making the switch north of the border.

She continued: “I love centre mid and defence. I am just happy to be on the pitch really. My style of play I would probably say I am more of a defensive midfielder, a bit ratty around. I will do the dirty work; I like to win tackles then give it to the other people to do the hard work.

“Obviously as it is quite far away my decision to move out and move out of home was a big decision for me. That was probably the deciding factor but I am really excited and glad I came.

“A few of the Villa girls are Scottish and knew a lot of people here and Jo obviously as well. I knew it was a really good environment and the club was going in the right direction.”

McLoughlin has represented her parent club in the WSL as well as having a previous loan spell whilst also representing her national side at youth level and she says the experiences she has had in professional football have only enhanced her development so far.

She added: “I have really enjoyed professional football so far. I am still only young so I have only had a few years but I have loved it. Each game and each training session brings a new challenge for you, but I am enjoying it.

“It was massive, you can only learn so much in a training session. I think going and putting it out in game situations and the Blues were also quite high up in the league just like Rangers are, it brings new experiences for you.

“That again is a new experience as well. I think playing different countries brings massive amounts of pressure and also new challenges. Working under different managers as well you have to adapt to different styles of play so I love that as well.”
