LEANNE Crichton praised the maturity and performance levels of her side as Rangers booked their place in the semi-finals of the Sky Sports Cup with a 3-0 victory over Partick Thistle.

A brace from Katie Wilkinson and a strike from youngster May Cruft ensured the Light Blues progressed to the last four, continuing their impressive run of form.

Crichton was pleased with the overall performance from her side, particularly the control they showed throughout the 90 minutes, as they continue to build consistency and maturity into their performances.

Speaking to RangersTV after the match, she said: “I thought the performance levels, start to finish, were exceptional.

“I think we probably flattered to deceive in the first half and potentially could have been much further out in front for the moments that we created.

“Credit to Partick Thistle, I thought they were really robust, really resilient and made it difficult for us to break down.

“We want more maturity in our performances and that’s what we're asking the players to do.

“It's great to see us all out, looking to score goals and create moments to get the fans on side. But there's other sides to the game that I would like us to be much more comfortable with.

“We had to work hard for the moments that we eventually did get. But overall, in terms of the 90-minute performance, I thought we were excellent.”

It was a strong collective performance from the Light Blues, but there were also two significant individual milestones to celebrate, with Brogan Hay making her 200th appearance for the club and Wilkinson reaching 100 competitive goals in a Rangers shirt.

However, Crichton was keen to emphasise the importance of the team's collective achievements, with the focus already turning towards maintaining their standards ahead of next weekend's trip to face Hearts.

She added: “I think Brogan in the last number of weeks has been excellent, starting to show those consistency levels that she's got and what that means to the team.

“Those individual accolades for the players that go on and achieve, and it's a real credit to them because it's no mean feat to go and rack up those sorts of numbers.

“It's about the team and I think those individuals will have their moment and we celebrate that in-house.

“But the good thing about the group just now is what the team are achieving and what we're focused on doing. So, they were a huge part of that today.

“The consistency levels are what we've been focused on week by week and thus far it's been really good.

“A team [Hearts] that are also in a really good run of form, scoring goals, really fluid in their play. So, it'll be a different type of challenge for us, but we can only look at ourselves.

“We'll switch our focus to Hearts and we've got another good week to go and prepare and be ready for the game.”
