The former Gers captain remembers watching the tournament as a youngster and is excited to reunite with some familiar faces.
He said: “We’re really looking forward to it. It’ll be good to see a lot of former teammates, although I’m sure they won’t be happy with me moaning at them from the sidelines!
“I went to watch Rangers in the Tennent’s Sixes as a young kid back in the 1980s, so I’m glad it’s back.”
Rangers will face St Mirren, Celtic and Kilmarnock, and Ferguson expects a competitive weekend from a squad eager to represent the club once again.
He continued: “Of course, we’re representing Rangers and we’ll try to go there and win it. We know it’ll be difficult.
"A lot of the boys are older and not as fit as they used to be, but they’ve been warned to look after themselves and they’re doing their best to keep fit.
“We’ll look forward to the first game, but the one that stands out is Celtic. That will be really competitive, and those are the games you look forward to.
“It’ll be great to spend the weekend together and catch up with guys I haven’t seen for a while.
"We’ve got a couple of younger boys in to do the running for the older ones!
“We all know what Rangers is about. We might have retired, but when you represent Rangers, you go out to win things. We’ll certainly try to win the Tennent’s Sixes.”
