Derek McInnes’ men secured a 1-0 win over Celtic at Parkhead, just seven days on from the 3-0 home victory in the Premier Sports Cup.
The South African international stopper was impressive again as the Light Blues made it a fifth clean sheet in six matches and a fourth in a row.
Makhanya says the squad knew it wouldn’t be easy, especially with no away fans in attendance, but he says they felt the support from Rangers fans before they left Ibrox.
Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “Coming here, we knew it would be a difficult game, and we knew we had to be 100 per cent focused for the whole game, and that’s what we did as a team.
“The supporters were shouting at us, but it was nice at Ibrox.
"Playing here without any supporters was crazy. Every time we got on the ball, people were shouting and trying to put us under pressure, but we stayed calm.
“The partnership and the relationship with Emmanuel Fernandez is growing.
“It was very important, especially going into the international break; we wanted to leave in a good way. “For us we want to go into this break and then pick it back up again.”
The defender thought he had doubled the Gers’ lead in the second half when his strike from the edge of the box sailed into the net.
However, his celebrations were short-lived when he was judged to have handled the ball in the build-up to the goal.
While he was gutted not to open his account for the club, he was thrilled to go into the international break with another victory.
He added: “As soon as I scored, I wasn’t sure if I should celebrate.
“I knew it touched my hand, but I ran away and celebrated anyway.
“I told myself to come here and get a good result and put in a good performance to go away with the international team, and I have done that.”
