Player Biography
The defender joined the Light Blues for a second spell in February 2020 with her rise in the ranks seeing her appointed club captain from the 2023/24 season.
Born in Falkirk, Docherty joined her hometown club at youth level at the age of 10, spending eight years with the side before departing for the Light Blues for her first spell in 2010.
The full-back spent a season with the Gers before making the switch to fellow Glasgow side Glasgow City, enjoying eight years there before returning to Rangers in 2020.
Her successful time on the pitch has seen her represent Scotland at Under-15s, 16s, 17s and 19s, whilst becoming a fully-fledged international, making over 60 caps for her country to date, scoring on two occasions.
The captain was also part of the Gers side that claimed their first ever league title in the summer of 2022 before tasting further silverware success in the form of the Sky Sports Cup in December in the same year.
The skipper got her hands on silverware, leading the side for the first time in the form of the Sky Sports Cup, as Rangers successfully defended the trophy with a 4-1 win over Partick Thistle at Tynecastle in March 2024.
She then led the side to Scottish Cup glory with a 2-0 win over Hearts at Hampden Stadium, reaching over 100 appearances for the club in recent seasons before signing a two-year deal to commit her future to the Gers for the next two campaigns.
During 24/25, the captain was again an ever-present in the backline as the Gers went on to claim back-to-back cup doubles. Helping the team to victory in the Sky Sports Cup win over Hibs at Fir Park in March 2025 before getting her hands on the Scottish Cup for the second time as a Ger in May, keeping clean sheets in both finals.
She remained a mainstay in the side during Leanne Crichton’s first season in charge, as the Gers reached both domestic cup finals and took the title race to the final day of the season but ultimately missed out on all three trophies.
The captain then agreed terms on a one-year contract extension ahead of the new season, leading the team out in the UEFA Women’s Champions League second-round qualifying, scoring the decisive equaliser in the comeback win over SK Slavia Praha before the Light Blues narrowly lost out in the final to Ajax at Petershill.
