Brianna Westrup: So Proud Of The Players

BRIANNA WESTRUP said she is ‘so proud’ of her Rangers side after the squad lifted the Park’s Motor SWPL 1 trophy this afternoon at the Rangers Training Centre in front of the home fans.

The squad managed to pick up a point this afternoon against Glasgow City to put them out of contention for the league title for the first time in fourteen years.

The captain expressed her emotions to lift the trophy for the first time in club history at the Rangers Training Centre this afternoon amongst the Rangers support.

Speaking exclusively to RangersTV after the squad lifted the league trophy in front of the home fans, she said: “It’s unbelievable. I think when the final whistle there was just that relief as it’s been such a long season and the girls put in so much effort. It was just 90 minutes of grind this game.

“It was amazing to have so many fans in, shoutout to them for making it a really good environment to play in, it was fantastic, and we want to finish the season strong and kick on from that next year.”

The Light Blues still have another game to go next week, but Westrup highlighted her pride in the squad’s performance after winning the league title undefeated against reigning champions Glasgow City this afternoon.

She added: “You can never count them out, they’ve been reigning champions and dominant force in Scotland for years. The girls felt last year that we could’ve gotten a bit more out of the season, we just had to take it day by day. It was a tremendously proud moment; every single person has put in a shift throughout the season – I’m so proud.

“It’s a tremendous season and we couldn’t be prouder of the girls for the work they’ve put in throughout the season and today.”
