A 2-1 victory over Sparta Prague leaves the Light Blues sitting second in Group C, with just two matches remaining. An impressive first-half display saw Rangers 2-0 ahead thanks to goals from Danilo and Todd Cantwell, before Sparta found a goal back in the second-half.
Looking back on the match, Clement said: “I was very happy, if you see where the group were three weeks ago, to where they are now it is a big difference. We had a really good first-half, but now we need to make the team stronger physically to get that kind of game and rhythm for the 90 minutes.
“You see in the second-half our tempo goes down and also the qualities of Sparta Prague show who are a really good team and have good players on the ball. In the end it is a well-deserved victory and the only thing we missed today was to score the third goal and kill the belief like that for the opponent.
“That is what I demand to make a strong start and directly to be in the game. Not only the players who start but also the guys who are on the bench that are directly ready because you cannot wait 10 or 15 minutes to start the game. You need to be strong every minute.
“The guys who came in gave the right energy, did their job for the team with and without the ball and it is crucial that we continue like this where we are playing in four competitions so the players who are proving they want to do everything for the team they will get the most minutes. “
A win against Aris Limassol at Ibrox later this month could secure qualification to the next round of the group, but Clement insists focus turns back to the league as Rangers head for Livingston on Sunday.
He added: “It is two more games in the group, we need to look at it game by game and we can decide something already in the next game but that is still a long way to go.
“The team needs to continue doing what they are doing everyday in training and every game in the league and then focus on Europe afterwards.”
On his first experience of a European evening at Ibrox as manager, Clement continued: “It was amazing, it was what I expected and my expectations are really high also about the stadium, about the fans and about the atmosphere.
“That was also one of the reasons to come here because I am a football freak so I love this tradition and all this passion because I am also a passionate guy about football, so I enjoyed it.”
