The head coach was speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Ferencváros and was asked if the final three were all must win to progress in the competition.
He said: “I always believe we can do something. It is important, we know where we are in the competition. It is important to understand that we go into the game tomorrow to win and then let’s see what happens step by step.
“If we look back to the last game, we won 3-0 but not everything was perfect. After a victory you can be more critical than after defeat sometimes because the next few weeks are very crucial for us and it starts tomorrow.
“We have big games ahead in the league and then at the beginning of January we will know where we are at the moment, we have to develop ourselves, we have to deliver and we have to make the next steps.”
The head coach provided an update on his squad, while he revealed he is hopeful of minutes for Dujon Sterling who has been sidelined for seven months. He said: “Joe Rothwell is not with us, Lyall is with us, but it is a big question mark. Dujon is back in the squad, and this is good.
“Normally when you arrive then you need an impression on the pitch, you need bigger pictures, you need game time and I heard a lot of good things about him.
I see him in the training sessions, and he is a special guy. I think he is brave enough, he knows what it means but it is also important that his body is ready. I think tomorrow he will get some minutes, I have to sleep on when he gets the minutes but now this is the next step that we have him available.”
