The holders had to wait until well into the contest to find the breakthrough as two of the half time substitutes combined to score the opener before they went on to be eventual 3-0 winners over Dundee United.
Speaking to RangersTV on the message to herself and strike partner Katie Wilkinson before going on, she said: “Just play our normal game, play off different lines.
“Do what we are both good at, Wilko is good at holding the ball in, being strong and using her strength and you seen that.
“She got that free kick and took it excellently and me running in behind and that is how I got my goal as well just playing off Wilko's header and running in behind.
“That was the message to us and luckily we could come on and make an impact and get the goals that we needed.
“It was a tough game; it always is when we come up here.
“We knew it probably wasn't going to be the same scoreline from the last time we played them.
“Cup games anything can happen but happy to get through into the next round and get back down the road.”
The 27-year-old says patience was required as well as remaining strong defensively as the Gers continued their impressive defensive record this domestic season so far on their way to victory.
She continued: “Patience was required, I think just ball speed, that is something we pride ourselves on and it maybe wasn't quite up to scratch at times today.
“Switching the ball a little bit quicker because we know breaking a low block down is hard but you need to move the ball and switch the play.
“You need to be good at that to be able to break them down but it wasn't really going our way today but we managed to get there and get the three goals and that is the most important thing.
“We pride ourselves on clean sheets and we managed to get another one today which is good.
“We need to make sure in games like this that we remain solid at the back and the defenders can trust us to put the ball in the back of the net at the other end and we have done that today.”
Rangers now quickly turn their attentions to a huge first Old Firm derby of the season on Thursday evening and the striker says the team are all relishing the occasion that awaits.
She added: “We are all really excited, good to get this game done and into the next round and now we can rest up and recover to go again on Thursday.
“We all know what it means, it is the first of the season and we want to go on and put a real good performance in and get the three points.”
